Chicago has about 40 dispensaries. Here’s what separates ours.
A lot of Chicago dispensaries carry the same brands at roughly the same prices. Once that’s true, the shelf stops being the thing you’re choosing between. What’s left is the room, the person behind the counter, and whether you leave feeling like the trip was worth making.
That’s the part we’ve spent four years getting right, and it’s the part our customers keep writing about. Between our Logan Square and Bucktown stores, nearly 1,900 people have left a Google review. We don’t get to set those numbers. Anyone can pull them up. So take this as our case, openly ours to make, built on figures that aren’t ours to assign.
The Ratings, and Why the Volume Matters
Logan Square sits at 4.9 stars across 927 Google reviews. Bucktown is right behind it, around 4.8 on a comparable pile.
The second number is the one worth pausing on. A 4.9 from thirty reviews is a nice start; it can be built out of one good month and a few friendly regulars. A 4.9 that has survived 927 separate opinions is a different kind of evidence. It means the good visit is the standard rather than the exception, and it holds on the busy Saturday as well as the quiet Tuesday. That’s the bar we hold ourselves to, and it’s a fair one to hold any dispensary to. When you’re comparing stores, start with the platform carrying the most reviews and let the thin pages be footnotes.
The People Come Up Before the Product Does
Read enough of the reviews and a pattern shows up fast: customers mention the staff before they mention what they bought. A Logan Square shopper, Vanessa S.:
“I got a super nice 1st time buyer promo. The quality was top notch… staff was super friendly and helpful. I even got a loyalty card that you accumulate punches… they have little baskets up front with free items, that day I got a super cute pin!”
And Molly R., at Bucktown:
“I’ve rarely walked into a dispensary to see little to no line to wait in and a really welcoming vibe! Ivy Hall Bucktown has really friendly, understanding staff members.”
Friendly, helpful, welcoming, no line. Those aren’t product features. They’re the result of hiring budtenders who can answer a question and giving them the time to do it.
Two Rooms, Built on Purpose
Bucktown opened in November 2022 as our first store, in a former Marc Jacobs boutique on Damen. We kept the boutique bones and built out Illinois’ first sensory-design dispensary. The centerpiece today is the flower wall: real bud, behind glass, at eye level. If you’ve ever bought flower off a thumbnail and a paragraph of description and regretted it, that wall is the answer to it. You get to see what you’re buying before you buy it.
Logan Square is the opposite energy, deliberately. Open floor, self-serve kiosks, room to browse without anyone hovering. Some days you want a guide. Some days you want to be left alone. We built one of each.
What It’s Worth to Become a Regular
If you come back often, the math starts to matter, and that’s what the Charter Club is for. It’s free, and the savings climb as you do:
- Points on everything you spend.
- Thank You Tuesday: 15 to 25 percent off, depending on your tier.
- Another 10 percent during the first and last open hour, Sunday through Thursday, which stacks on top.
- Medical patients: 25 percent off, every day.
- Veterans and anyone 60 or older: 20 percent off.
A platinum member shopping a Tuesday happy hour is about as cheap as cannabis gets in this city without a medical card. First order through the app takes $20 off on top.
The Practical Stuff
Both Chicago stores are recreational. They take debit and cash, keep an ATM on hand, welcome dogs, and sell for pickup rather than delivery. Both stores are open 8am-9pm Monday-Thursday; 8am-10pm Fri & Sat; 9am-8pm Sundays. You can order online before you come in, and it’ll be waiting.
The reviews are public, the ratings have real weight behind them, and the simplest way to test any of it is to go stand in the room those 1,900 people are describing.
