IVY Hall Streamwood is Heating up For Summer

Summer is here and Ivy Hall Dispensary in Streamwood is celebrating with freebies, discounts and favs from our staff!

Food Truck at Ivy Hall Streamwood

Every Tuesday from 5-8pm for the month of July, Kori’s Koop will be set-up in the parking lot outside of Ivy Hall Streamwood serving up none other than – you guessed it – chicken! While it is open to the public, Ivy Hall customers can receive 5% off their order when they show their Ivy Hall receipt at the window.

Kori Duncan is the food truck’s owner and head chef, and while she isn’t new to the food scene, her food truck is! But don’t let that trip you. Her recent ribbon cutting was just 2 weeks ago and her business has skyrocketed since. How did she get on our radar you ask? We were looking to do something different and seeking ways to stand out in this town, and she was looking to set up outside a dispensary near Bartlett on a regular basis.

Her menu includes, but is not limited to, chicken wings, served dry or saucy, loaded fries, regular fries, a variety of grilled cheese options, street tacos, plus Italian Beef Eggrolls (brb, drooling). You can follow along with her food truck schedule here for when she’ll be at Ivy Hall Streamwood next!

New Kidz on the Block: Welcome to the Neighborhood…Again

Bartlett Chamber Day at Ivy Hall Streamwood

Bartlett Area Chamber Day at Ivy Hall Streamwood

Last month, Ivy Hall Streamwood officially became Bartlett Area Chamber Members *cue applause* Ivy Hall Streamwood was proud to host Mary Smith, Vice President of the Bartlett Chamber Staff, along with several other members, old and new, for an official Open House at the Streamwood location. It was a sunny, hot, Tuesday afternoon. Lunch from Jersey Mikes was provided, first timers had store tours, and connections were made. The team is looking forward to being more involved in the community by developing further connections and harnessing relationships with other businesses and business owners in the area.

We are always exploring new ways to educate our community on the proper use of cannabis and how to customize it to the experience you want or are looking to have versus just “getting high.” Because it’s “not about feeling it, It’s about feeling good.

Doing Good in the Neighborhood

When you hear the words “stoner,” “pothead,” “weed user,” I bet your mind automatically envisions a certain stereotype; someone who looks like a character out of Pineapple Express or Dazed and Confused, not Ivy Hall budtenders voluntarily (and happily) serving their community.

Community is a core value of Ivy Hall and one we take seriously. Every month, our teams are allotted 20 hours of community service. Each team gets to decide where they’d like to focus their time and efforts volunteering, and it’s usually based on a shared passion and mission. For this team, the shared commonality seems to be plants (of course 😉) and taking care of the Earth. What can we say, we’re plant people!

“We learned a lot and had a lot of fun!  We helped plant 600 native species that will not only help restore the prairie but also bring back Grassland birds which is the goal of the local parks department. We’ll be back on a regular basis.” – Cindy L.

This summer, the Ivy Hall Streamwood team took to the Fox River Trail in Elgin to clean up the trash pollution around the rivergrounds. Two members of the team also went to the Schaumburg Rd Grasslands here in Streamwood to help with Prairie Restoration. The group plans to keep returning as part of their monthly commitment.

Getting to Know You: Q & A with the Ivy Hall Streamwood Team

Streamwood Dispensary Budtenders Outside

You know them as your friendly neighborhood budtenders, but do you really know them? Since most of us have become more introverted over time, a Q&A was put together for you to help break the ice. We see you extroverts! Some of our team members have chosen to remain anonymous while others were more open. That way, the next time you see them at the store, they won’t feel like complete strangers that are helping you while you open up to them about what you’re hoping to get from cannabis.

Q. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE IVY HALL STREAMWOOD TEAM?

Anon 2: “Honestly, the grand sense of community that comes from not only my coworkers, but customers too. When I’m there, it truly feels like we are making a difference in people’s lives from getting edibles for joint pain or grabbing some moonwalkers for a new level of high. I live for this kind of work and I can truly say I’m living the dream”

Toni:  “Well, by being one of the young Seniors of the team, I can honestly say that we do work as a unit/team. We seem to be attuned to the needs of each other as well as the customers and we agree that making sure that that need, (of the customers) is paramount! The flow comes from the good vibes we get when we know that we are meeting that need.”

Q. What’s your favorite place to go to in Streamwood or in its surrounding communities?

Anon 1: Pita BBQ Restaurant

Toni: Of course it’s Ivy Hall because of the camaraderie that exists here! It’s like coming to the adult “neighborhood house” every time I walk through the door!

Q. How do you use cannabis to help elevate your life?

Anon 1: I have PTSD so it helps me function better without feeling like it’s the end when triggers happen. It helps me see my whole team and rely on people to do their jobs so I can do a better job.

Toni: My own personal story started when I basically only used it recreationally but started to learn of medicinal uses which grew into curiosity. I learned more about the possible medicinal properties as time passed but then in 2011, I developed spinal stenosis and had a triple level cervical fusion. It changed my life totally. I used opioids to help control the pain from debilitating spasms. Long story short, cannabis helped me to be able to reduce the need for opioids by 90%+!! Unfortunately it doesn’t cure my condition but I’m Truly Grateful for what it has and is still allowing me positively.

Anon 2: I’ve suffered from Depression, Anxiety, Stomach Issues and Insomnia for YEEEAAAARRRSSS… it was difficult to find medicines as my doctors were dismissive of my symptoms or my medication would stop working. After a few months exploring after trial and error, I’ve found the perfect medicinal blend that truly works for me. I keep a rotation of sleep products so I can stay on top of my treatments as my medical needs change. SHOUT OUT TO WANA’S FAST & STAY ASLEEP gummies, they have made a profound difference in my life.

Q. What are your current Top 3 favorite cannabis products that we carry?

Streamwood Dispensary Cannabis Brands

Streamwood Dispensary Cannabis Brands

Anon 1: Daze Off, Good Tide, Nature’s Grace

Toni: Aeriz, Verano and Nature’s Grace.

Q. What’s your favorite way to consume?

Anon 1: Dabs or drinks – the two D’s. DnD

Anon 2: Since I am both a medicinal and recreational user, I primarily use my Arizer XQ2 dry herb vaporizer so I can microdose throughout the day or crank it up for a good time 🎉Aeriz FSHO infused pre rolls or CQ drinks are by far my favorites.

Toni: I have no problem with any way it’s presented. But flower, pre-rolls, edibles and drinks. I need the topical!

Q. Can you speak to the inception of the softball league and what that’s been like for you personally, and the rest of the Ivy Hall team?

Toni: As a team member who is truly only an observer, I love how everyone comes together and the energy it creates, until of course the Big Day when the energy is through the roof! How can this ever be a bad thing? Regardless of whether you’re running bases or cheering from the sidelines!

Q. Last question…is there anything you like to do while in your high?

Anon 1: Sleep.

Anon 2: I am a true believer in the benefits of smoking along with frequency music as weed is an amplifier of the current mental state. It has made a difference easing my anxiety and getting grounded.

Toni: Anything that requires my full and total attention.
